11th Mediterranean Yacht Show Highlights Greece’s Enduring Appeal for Luxury Yacht Charters

The 11th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS), held in the historic Greek port town of Nafplio, once again confirmed why Greece remains one of the world’s leading luxury yacht charter destinations. Bringing together some of the finest crewed charter yachts in the Eastern Mediterranean, the show offered charter brokers an in-depth look at the latest yachts, standout refits and evolving guest experiences shaping the 2026 season.

Despite unusually cold spring weather, the atmosphere throughout the show remained energetic and highly optimistic.

“This was probably the coldest MEDYS that I have ever attended,” said LJ Houghting, at the show for CharterWorld, “but needless to say, it is always an exceptionally well executed charter show, with very special events that help to showcase not only the area of Nafplio and the Greek culture, but the yachts, the crew, and the chefs as well.”

Fresh Yacht Line-Up and Outstanding Refits

One of the key themes emerging from MEDYS 2026 was the exceptional freshness and variety of the attending fleet. Brokers highlighted the increasing number of new participants and the high standard of recent refits, offering clients more diverse charter options across Greece.

Charter broker Colin Srivastava described the show. “There were numerous new attendees at the show, with the standard, variety, freshness and interest very high on all counts,” he said.

Several yachts particularly impressed attending brokers. The elegant motor yacht PERSEFONI stood out for its stylish interior and enthusiastic crew, while PERSEUS created “the impression of being on a larger yacht,” thanks to its bright interior spaces, master balcony and expansive deck layout.

Recently refitted yachts SOJO and TALIA also attracted significant attention.

“SOJO and TALIA were simply outstanding refits, with especially sharp and dedicated crews,” said Colin.

For clients considering catamaran charters in Greece, SAMELI offered a refreshing alternative with a strong balance of comfort and performance.

Family-Friendly Charters Continue to Lead Demand

Family charters remain a dominant trend in the Greek yacht charter market, with many yachts tailoring experiences specifically for multi-generational groups and younger guests.

“Most of the yachts attending this show are extremely well equipped for families with young children, and the crew are well versed with entertaining young children,” explained LJ.

Among her standout yachts was the 33m Custom Line DALOLI, praised for its water sports selection, guest-friendly layout and attentive crew. The 50m Codecasa MARIU impressed with “crew synergy, culinary expertise in Chef Javier and value for money,” while the 56m Benetti AELIA delivered a fully luxury experience complete with elevator, cinema room and two master suites.

At the ultra-luxury end of the market, the 71m explorer yacht KOGO made a memorable impression, as you would expect from such a renowned superyacht.

Greece Remains a Top Charter Destination

Beyond the yachts themselves, brokers agreed that Greece continues to stand apart for its consistency, experienced crews and extraordinary cruising diversity.

“While other destinations come and go in vogue according to cycles, Greece remains an excellent destination,” said Colin. “Owner involvement and investment, consistently high-performing crews and multiple cruising grounds” continue to underpin its success.

With the Cyclades, Ionian Islands, Saronic Gulf and Dodecanese all offering distinctly different charter experiences, Greece remains uniquely positioned to appeal to both first-time charterers and seasoned yacht guests alike.

As MEDYS continues to evolve, the show reinforces not only the strength of the Greek yacht charter market, but also the growing emphasis on personalised service, modern refits and exceptional onboard experiences for luxury charter clients worldwide.
