Inside the MYBA Charter Show 2026: Why First-Hand Experience Still Defines Exceptional Yacht Charter
The MYBA Charter Show 2026 in Sanremo closed on a high, reinforcing its status as one of the most influential events in the luxury yacht charter calendar. With 87 yachts on display and more than 2,000 industry professionals in attendance, the show delivered a balance of business, innovation, and celebration. From dockside viewings and chef competitions to seminars and social events, the atmosphere reflected a buoyant charter industry.
For the CharterWorld team, the MYBA Charter Show continues to serve a deeper purpose, one that is central to how we operate.
The Value of Being There
For CharterWorld brokers, attending MYBA is not simply about viewing yachts – it is about building the depth of knowledge required to make truly tailored recommendations.
As Nicolas Benazeth highlights, “the personal inspection of yachts, and direct interaction with the crews and managers is one of the most important aspects of our role.” In a market where new launches continue to push design boundaries, appearances alone can be misleading. “Not all yachts are what they appear,” he notes, reinforcing why firsthand experience remains essential.
Throughout the show, the CharterWorld team stepped aboard dozens of yachts, assessing not only their aesthetics and amenities but also the subtleties that define a great charter experience – crew chemistry, service standards, and overall atmosphere. This level of detail is impossible to capture remotely, yet it is precisely what enables brokers to match clients with yachts that genuinely suit their expectations.
Crew: The True Differentiator
Across the board, one theme stood out: the exceptional calibre of crew.
From innovative dining experiences to consistently high service standards, the crews demonstrated a level of professionalism and creativity that continues to elevate the charter sector. Senior broker Trina Howes noted a particularly strong culinary display this year, commenting, “I was particularly impressed by the quality of the food …with the service also being very good on all the yachts I visited.”
These MYBA competitions – ranging from the renowned Superyacht Chefs’ Competition to “All Hands on Deck” and “Designer Water” – offered further insight into the passion and dedication crews bring to their roles. These elements, while often behind the scenes, are what transform a yacht charter into an unforgettable experience.
The Strength of Established Yachts
One of the most interesting takeaways from this year’s show was the performance of well-maintained, established yachts.
Yachts such as EMOCEAN, SEVERIN’S, and HANA stood out because they are exceptionally well run, with experienced, long-standing crews, carefully maintained interiors, and a clear understanding of guest expectations. They challenge the assumption that newer is always better and offer a level of reliability that is highly valued in the superyacht charter market.
“They look really good, have excellent amenities and crew, and most importantly, are very good value for money,” noted broker Trina Howes.
For clients, this translates into more nuanced recommendations, where pedigree, crew stability, and proven performance can outweigh novelty.
Collaboration, Conversations and Market Insight
While yacht inspections remain central, the MYBA Charter Show also serves as a key forum for industry connection. For broker Hadley Albanese, the value extended well beyond the yachts themselves. “In-depth conversations with yacht managers, fleet operators, and industry stakeholders gives us great insight into how they operate and often includes candid feedback on past performance.” Information that is invaluable when advising clients.
The show also offered an opportunity to “take the pulse of the market, exchange insights and come away with clarity for the upcoming seasons,” CharterWorld’s Marketing and PR Manager Eva Belanyiova noted. Encouragingly, while some segments have faced challenges, there is clear evidence that investment in yacht upkeep, crew training, and long-term crew retention is increasing. This renewed focus on quality is expected to positively influence the upcoming charter season.
Standout Yachts
Among the many yachts visited, several stood out to the CharterWorld team. Award winners such as SEAWOLF X, LATIKO, and FORZA QUIETA were particularly impressive, while yachts like PALOMA, OWO, BLUE EYES, and TEMPEST WS offered pleasant surprises.
Dining experiences also left a lasting impression, with NAIA delivering an award-winning lunch and PALOMA and LATIKO ranking among the team’s personal favourites.
“There were far more ‘yes yachts’ than ‘no yachts,’” observed Hadley, an indication that standards across the luxury yacht charter fleet are rising.
Looking Ahead
The MYBA Charter Show 2026 once again demonstrated why these events are indispensable to the charter industry. They provide far more than a showcase of yachts—they offer an environment for learning, collaboration, and critical evaluation.
For CharterWorld, the takeaway is clear: investing time on the docks, engaging directly with crews and managers, and experiencing yachts firsthand remains fundamental to delivering exceptional client service.
Because in a market defined by choice, it is this depth of knowledge that ensures every recommendation is the right one.
